we are driving to memphis

we are still driving to memphis

hurrah! we have magically arrived at graceland! erik is demonstrating his excitement

there are a gagillionzillionbillionmillion graven images of the king at this house of worship known as graceland

many important relics exist in the elvis museum. wow, isn't a plain old coloring book suddenly cool because it used to belong to elvis' daughter? most americans would (incorrectly) respond with a resounding YES!!!!

many people from many countries pack the line for the shuttle bus that takes visitors to graceland, elvis' breathtaking and tastefully decorated home

we didn't catch a picture of the underwhelming shuttle bus, but as you can see, we have just been dropped off at elvis' front door. (caption: ding, dong. anybody home? elvis is not here right now! he's working his shift at wendy's.)

don't send money, please. (ok, if you insist.)

a poor photo of one of the rooms near the back of the first floor of graceland. boy, pea green was so in back then. pathetic, once you look back on it, huh?

here is a sign that was posted on a graceland fence. TCB was elvisspeak for "taking care of business," his fave phrase.

graceland is a picture taking kind of place, as this fellow tourist demonstrates.

here's another tourist. no, he's not hunting elvii, he's shooting photos of graceland. btw, the earphones are for the graceland audio tour. (that's right, kids, the audio tour has replaced the live tours of the place. sad, eh?)

as you can tell, we got up close and personal with the king...

here we are in one of elvis' outbuildings on the property. this one obviously stores his gold records. blurry photo attributed to skillless photographer, aka other tourist we asked to take our picture.

we tried turning around the camera to take a photo of ourselves.

look at the fancy gold records on the wall. nice, huh?

buried in the backyard. nice.

elvis underground
